"During my doctoral research, I focused on European and Belgian law on nature conservation in urban and industrial environments and, more specifically, on a proposal to reconcile anthropogenic and ecological dynamics within these environments (temporary nature) with a view to socio-ecosystem resilience. My current research focuses on climate issues, with a particular focus on the Belgian federal structure. Using a multi-level governance approach, I analyse whether, and if so, to what extent the Belgian federal structure is equipped to respond to climate issues, both in terms of mitigation and adaptation. With regard to the second aspect, I am particularly interested in the adaptation challenges facing (large) cities."
