“Krystel Wanneau is an F.R.S.-FNRS research fellow at CReSPo, UCLouvain Saint-Louis, and at REPI, ULB. Her research focuses on environmental policy and the mobilisation of scientific expertise. Through a variety of field studies, she examines how scientific knowledge is produced, translated and contested within public policy frameworks at different levels. In her PhD thesis, she analysed the United Nations Environment Programme’s networks of experts on natural disasters and armed conflicts. She continued this political sociology of expertise in the ERC MARIPOLDATA project, where she conducted an ethnographic study of laboratories specialising in marine biodiversity monitoring practices, and subsequently in the ANR SciOUTPOST project, where she examined how the French state manages the major research infrastructures at its scientific outposts. Her FNRS PROFONDS project analyses French scientific policy on the deep seabed.”
