“My research project aims to gain a better understanding of the nature and degree of interaction between humans (past and present) and inland water ecosystems, in order to assess their ability to resist or adapt to climate change. The field of my activities mainly concerns, but is not limited to, the submerged Holocene cultural landscapes of the high-altitude lakes of the central Andes (Bolivia/Peru). Over the last few millennia, human communities in the central Andes have witnessed multiple transgressions and regressions of lakes, which have alternately submerged or exposed areas suitable for settlement and agriculture. Measuring these phenomena makes it possible to develop cultural and environmental scenarios within past socio-ecosystems and to assess the cultural responses induced by these changes.”
