Interdisciplinary seminar to co-construct research questions around sobriety for the socio-ecological transition
Bd du Jardin botanique 43, 1000 Bruxelles - « Salle des Examens » Saint-Louis Bruxelles
-Sobriety is gradually emerging as an essential prism for thinking about the socio-ecological transition. This concept offers the opportunity to question in depth our lifestyles, our collective structures and the ethics of our various interactions (with humans and non-humans alike). The complexity of the concept makes a resolutely interdisciplinary approach essential.
The meeting will take place on the afternoon of 1 October and the morning of 2 October. It will combine presentations, discussions and workshops to co-construct research questions with a view to future collaborations. The seminar will encourage open discussion and active participation from everyone. The aim is not to produce definitive results, but to lay the foundations for future interdisciplinary research.
We will have the chance to listen to and discuss with Dominique Méda (Université Paris Dauphine-PSL - philosophy and sociology of work), Yamina Saheb (Sciences Po Paris, author of the IPCC and co-founder of the SufficiencyLab - energy engineering), and Grégoire Wallenborn (ULB, environmental sciences and history of science) for a presentation on energy sobriety, the organisation of work, wealth indicators and technocracy.
