Tick tock, tick tock... Resisting the rush to stave off global burnout

Uliège - Amphi L3 - Rue de Pitteurs 20, 4020 Liège Outremeuse

— 20:00 - 22:00

Pierre Stassart (SEED, Arlon Campus) takes us on a journey through a gestural lecture, situated at the intersection of the personal and the political, drawing inspiration from both his career as a lecturer and researcher in environmental sociology and his family history.

He examines our future in the light of the question of acceleration: why are we short of time, what are we chasing after? Can we think of acceleration beyond its technological dimension? What are its economic and cultural drivers? How do they feed into one another? How can we make this a collective issue?

Pierre then takes us up to the family attic to trace three generations back, before leaving the lecture halls of his campus to take us to his field of research: social experimentation.

Blending personal narrative with sociological analysis, ‘Tic Tac Tic Tac…’ combines the lived knowledge drawn from his own life with the academic knowledge gleaned from books, in an accessible and powerful presentation.
