The ecology of Sisyphus
Campus Solbosch - Auditoire LA FONTAINE, K1.105
— 18:30When it comes to the environment, everything seems urgent, but time drags on, entangled in material inertia. Far from being a sudden rupture, the environmental crisis is written in the weight of a long history — two centuries of ‘awareness’ constantly replayed. Far from the promise of a rapid transition, the history of energy is one of accumulation and symbiosis. Ecology is not the business of a single generation, or even a century, but the test of endless work.
Lecture by Jean-Baptiste Fressoz, historian of science, technology and the environment (EHESS-CRH / Paris).
