Stand with courage

Cinéma Le Caméo – Rue des Carmes 49, 5000 Namur

— 19:00 - 21:00

Through the story of her grandfather, a member of the Resistance in Belgium during the Second World War, Sandrine Dixson-Declève explores what it means to resist: yesterday in the face of barbarism, today in the face of democratic backsliding, dehumanisation and inaction on climate change.

At a time when the foundations of democracy are crumbling, when checks and balances are being put to the test and when environmental crises are worsening, one thing is clear: there can be no protection of life without a robust and dynamic democracy.

A democracy capable of listening and deliberating, of resisting populist shortcuts, and of engaging the whole of society in the profound transformations that are required.

It is in this spirit that we are delighted to invite you to a screening of the documentary Stand with Courage, directed by Sandrine Dixson-Declève and Carl Eneroth.

The screening will be followed by a discussion featuring three committed figures:

  • Sandrine Dixson-Declève, an international figure in the ecological transition and former co-president of the Club of Rome

  • Adélaïde Charlier, a spokesperson for a generation mobilised for the climate

  • Salomé Saqué, a journalist renowned for the rigour and strength of her analyses on democracy and societal issues.
