At Duty Free University, a very contemporary reflection of an American university, a professor finds himself at odds with a dean who is a proponent of cancel culture and a rector who applies Elon Musk-style management.

This play was written in March 2025 by François Ost (UCLouvain Saint-Louis) and Edwin Zaccai (ULB), reflecting recent events in the United States, but also echoing questions about contemporary university research and teaching. In 2024, the authors co-wrote ‘L'Arche et la Tour’ (The Ark and the Tower), a metaphor for ecological problems arising from the harmful functioning of societies.
