"Risks, Climates, Societies" Day

USquare

— 09:00 - 18:00

Systemic risks are at the heart of current concerns. The latest IPCC report (2022) marked a significant increase in the use of terms such as ‘complex risks’, underlining the growing importance of a systems approach to understanding climate impacts on health, the economy, biodiversity and beyond. These risks are interconnected and require a holistic understanding of the vulnerability and exposure factors of human and ecological systems.

This second Science Day on Planetary Limits will focus on these risks associated with climate change. The event, to be held on 12 November 2024, will provide a unique opportunity to explore the complex and systemic risks induced by climate disruption, by combining approaches from a range of disciplines.

After a welcome from the Rector of ULB, the day will continue with a number of discussion sessions and will close with a conference introduced by the Vice-Rector for Research and Development , Marius Gilbert.
