Navigating between science and politics: a journey to the heart of biological invasions
Campus Usquare - U.A.0.03
— 11:00 - 12:30At the crossroads between scientific disciplines and public action, biological invasions pose ecological, social and political challenges. This presentation takes us to the heart of these tensions, which are both global and more local: how does knowledge about invasive alien species circulate between the scientific and decision-making spheres? What roles do management tools, policy frameworks and social representations play in shaping responses to this major cause of biodiversity decline? This seminar will provide an opportunity to examine the role of researchers in decision-making processes marked by uncertainty, controversy and trade-offs.
Organised by Sonia Vanderhoven.
