Exploring the ecological transition on the ground: regions, struggles and practices
Louvain-la-Neuve & Usquare (Brussels)
-Since 2023, this interdisciplinary working group has brought together researchers for readings and lectures that examine the ecological transition through the lens of the humanities and social sciences. These readings have guided us from theoretical and activist debates on the nature and place of non-human life in social struggles towards observing the greening of practices and public policies in more applied research. They have also prompted reflection on the stance of researchers, their responsibility in the face of ecological challenges, and the relationships between the natural sciences, the humanities and citizens’ knowledge.
The study days on 19 and 20 May 2026 are a continuation of this momentum. They will provide a forum for discussion on forms of ecological mobilisation, the territorial reconfigurations of the transition, and changes in both professional and scientific practices. These days aim to build on the reflections initiated over the past two years and to open up new perspectives.
