Art Science Day

Usquare: Boulevard Général Jacques, 210, 1050 Ixelles

— 08:30 - 18:00

For some years now, the field of ArtScience, conceived as a field of interaction between scientific disciplines and artistic creation, has been generating more and more initiatives within the academic world. An attempt to break down barriers, ArtScience stimulates transdisciplinarity, invents new ways of telling scientific stories in all the major fields and is emerging as another way of contributing to exchanges between the university and society.

This year, in collaboration with ULB Culture, Ohme and the Institut supérieur pour l'étude du langage plastique (ISELP), the Research Department invites you to an ArtScience day on 18 October 2024 from 8.30am to 6pm on the Usquare site. On the programme: lectures, an exhibition by around twenty artists and scientists, workshops, performances and a drink.

From 2.15pm to 3.30pm, the discussion ‘From research to the stage’ will be led by Karel Vanhaesebrouck, Professor of History and Aesthetics of the Performing Arts - ULB. The other speakers will be :

  • Klaas Verpoest, video artist and performer, and Stéphane Detournay, FNRS research fellow in mathematical physics - ULB | ‘The Solitary One’.

  • Edwin Zaccaï, honorary professor - iiTSE and ULB, and François Ost, emeritus professor - USaint-Louis | ‘L'Arche et la Tour’ (The Arch and the Tower)

  • Sébastien Schmitz, sound artist, radio/podcast teacher - IHECS/ULB
