A climate-proofed social protection - How to face social-ecological risks?

KBR - 28 Monts des Arts, 1000 Bruxelles

— 09:00 - 17:00

The European social model, along with the rights it provides, is unique. As highlighted in Mario Draghi’s Future of Europe Competitiveness Report, Europe must remain competitive to preserve this model. Social protection policies themselves can contribute to the preservation and reinforcement of our social model, especially in the face of climate shocks and the ongoing ecological and energy transition. These policies are instrumental in supporting a smooth transition towards a climate-proofed society and economy.

Our seminar, "A Climate-Proofed Social Protection – How to face Social-Ecological Risks?", which will take place on 26 November 2024 at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR), will provide a platform to delve into these crucial issues. The event will feature presentations of concrete examples and discussions on the social and ecological risks linked to climate shocks and environmental transition policies. We will explore public policy solutions that can mitigate these risks and ensure resilience of our social protection systems.
